YOU

surveillance-systems-nyc

HALIFAX, Nova Scotia, March 10, 2017 – In the surveillance state, every word you speak is being recorded either by your own or someone else’s devices. These data are then filed via voiceprint recognition for future use.

The state has a file on you. That should come as no surprise. It’s already being used to target you for ads and for evidence of potential terrorist activity. That, allegedly, is the reason why your “data” is being harvested, whether via voiceprint, text, viewing habits, or camera imagery. Even your retinas have been catalogued, along with your foot print (at birth) and maybe even your fingerprints.

Every square inch of some cities is under surveillance through internet-connected personal devices, CCTV cameras, and satellite imagery. There is nowhere to run and nowhere to hide.

Some say: “It doesn’t bother me because I have nothing to hide.”

But stay with me here, and I’ll show you why it should bother you. (more…)

LOVE BOMB

love bomb

HALIFAX, Nova Scotia, March 10, 2017 – What does it mean to love one another?

The simple truth is that you can’t really love anyone unless you let God love through you.

That’s the love Jesus was talking about, and that’s the only kind of love. Everything else is fake. (more…)

NO APOLOGIES

no apologies

HALIFAX, Nova Scotia, March 6, 2017 – Jesus never apologized. Not once. Not for anything.

If he screwed up, he did whatever he could to do it right and to make it right.

But he never apologized. (more…)

WOLVES

HALIFAX, Nova Scotia, February 24, 2017 – Paul warned us about these, but many of you need to be rewarned.

Wolves talk like sheep, but that’s all they are – talk.

Underneath the talk is unbelief and greed.

Here’s how you know a wolf – a wolf asks for money to preach God’s Word. Maybe not up front, maybe not even explicitly, but somewhere along the way God’s Word is twisted into Satan’s lies and gets stamped with a scanner code. (more…)

DOING DEATH RIGHT

flatline

HALIFAX, Nova Scotia, December 2, 2016 – Death is a topic of conversation that most people don’t like to engage in. It’s not considered “polite”. But for those who love God and follow Jesus, death is the final hurdle that must be cleared before heading home to God. (more…)

MAKING GOD GREAT AGAIN: A CHRISTIAN PERSPECTIVE ON TRUMP’S VICTORY

trump-take-back-our-country

DARTMOUTH, Nova Scotia, November 9, 2016 – I was on a social media forum in the wee hours this morning, as the last of the votes were being tallied and it looked like Trump was indeed – and for many, unbelievably – going to take the White House. The people posting on the forum were all pro-Trump, and there was an infectiously giddy and festive atmosphere. It was a financial forum, so there were lots of investors bemoaning the sudden 800-point plunge of the DOW as the vote turned in Trump’s favour, which meant substantial losses in the 10s or even 100s of thousands of dollars for some of them. But, to a man, every single poster who bemoaned their unexpected loss said in the same breath that the loss didn’t matter if it meant that America would get back on track again. (more…)

PRAYER WARRIORS AND OTHER VAIN REPEATERS

sign_here-306x223.jpg

DARTMOUTH, Nova Scotia, November 6, 2016 – Like Jesus, I am no stranger to confrontation. In fact, in this ongoing revolution called “being a Christian in an anti-Christ world”, confrontation should be a daily occurrence – not with unbelievers (Jesus didn’t bother them) but with those who say they know God yet by their words and actions prove otherwise.

Enter Exhibit A: “Prayer warriors”. Never mind the stupidity of the phrase; let’s look at what these self-hyped “warriors” think they’re accomplishing. (more…)

BEING CHRISTIAN

003-jesus-cleansing-temple

DARTMOUTH, Nova Scotia, November 6, 2016 – I remember the first time it happened to me. I’d let loose on someone who’d done something stupid and I wasn’t in the mood to deal with it. In response, someone who overheard my rebuke snapped at me: “Well, that’s not very Christian of you.”

There are few phrases in the English language that peeve me more than that. Tell me to shut up to my face, volley a dozen f-bombs in my direction, disparage each of my relatives in turn, but don’t even think about doubting my faith because that’s what you’re doing when you level that phrase at me.

As if being Christian meant being polite! Tell that to Jesus. (more…)

NOVEMBER 11TH

DARTMOUTH, Nova Scotia, November 5, 2016 – The old guy sits alone at a small bare card table, looking for all the world like he’d rather be anywhere but there, in the corner of the lobby of the grocery store, hawking poppies.

The small glass jar in front of him is almost empty. From boredom, perhaps, or maybe from a touch of OCD or nervousness or deeply entrenched discipline, he’s lined up a few dozen of his poppies in four equal rows, with military precision.

From here, they look like four tiny rows of graves. (more…)

DON’T FALL FOR CARD TRICKS

card-tricks

DARTMOUTH, Nova Scotia, November 4, 2016 – The race card, religion card, gender card, poverty card, socioeconomic class card, victim card, etc., etc., etc., don’t fly with God and they don’t fly with me, either. If you want to blame your problems on people’s treatment of you, you’ll find no audience with me and even less of one with God. (more…)
