HOPE AND CHANGE, GOD-STYLE

currents

DARTMOUTH, Nova Scotia, October 26, 2016 – God  changes his mind. He never changes, mind you (he’s the same yesterday, today, tomorrow and forever), but he does change his mind. There are numerous instances in the Bible when he was about to render his judgement and then, through a last minute appeal, stayed his hand.

WORKING FOR GOD

DARTMOUTH, Nova Scotia, October 25, 2016 – People ask me why I don’t write for a living. I tell them I do. They say, “So where do you publish?” I say, “Online”. They say, “But for what company?” I say, “No company. I work for God.” And then they give me one of those looks (you know the one I’m talking about) and the conversation ends. (more…)

CANADA: A COUNTRY GONE MAD

lethal-injection

DARTMOUTH, Nova Scotia, October 25, 2016 – Canada recently passed a bill legalizing what they term as “medical aid in dying”, whose proper acronym, fittingly, is “MAD”. Countless religious leaders of all persuasions spoke out against this so-called medical procedure as the bill worked its way through the Canadian Parliament and then the Senate, but the majority of Canadians supported the bill and now support the law. In other words, the majority of Canadians consider that getting someone to help you kill yourself is not only a darn good idea but a “right” that should be protected by law. (more…)

THE ROLE OF PERSONALITY IN PREACHING THE WORD

personality

DARTMOUTH, Nova Scotia, October 25, 2016 – God chooses us for any number of reasons. The first and foremost one is that we choose him, sometimes without even knowing it (as I did). But in choosing us first and foremost because we choose him, he then chooses which of us will have the option of doing what kind of work within the Kingdom. In Heaven, we’ll have missions; on Earth, we’ll likewise have missions, and the missions God chooses for us are suited to our personality. (more…)

BE GOD-FEARING AND WORK HARD

DARTMOUTH, Nova Scotia, October 23, 2016 – I have had a few lively discussions lately on the topic of political leaders and the state of nations. As I can’t help but come at this topic from the perspective of a born-again believer, I invariably have grated against the nerves of nearly everyone I’ve spoken to.  I’m used to being attacked (water off a duck’s back), so that aspect of it doesn’t bother me, but what does stick a bit in my craw is how people refuse to take personal blame for anything that’s happening in their country. It’s as if they have no life experience at all, and only know how to point a finger of blame at everyone but themselves. (more…)

SON OF MAN

ot-prophets

DARTMOUTH, Nova Scotia, October 23, 2016 – One of the most insidious lies perpetuated by modern-day churchianity is that Jesus is God.

Jesus is not God. Jesus was never God and never will be God.

Only those who don’t know Jesus would call him God. (more…)

APPROACHING THE GREAT DIVIDE

the-great-divide

DARTMOUTH, Nova Scotia, October 23, 2016 – Scripture is very clear that one day, there will be two camps of people: those who love God and follow Jesus, and those who don’t.

I call this the great divide.

Once this division occurs – that is, once all the followers of Jesus have been sealed – there will be no more conversions. The times of the gentiles will have been fulfilled, and all that will be left for believers still on Earth will be to endure extreme tribulation without losing God’s grace. (more…)

JESUS AND MONEY

DARTMOUTH, Nova Scotia, October 22, 2016 – Jesus wasn’t well-off, but he had money. He didn’t have a lot of money, but he had enough. Judas Iscariot knew precisely how much money Jesus had because, as the gospel points out, Judas was in charge of the money (he “kept the bag”). He skimmed from it, too, because that was the kind of person he was. Of course, Jesus knew about Judas’s skimming but he let it go. Money wasn’t important to Jesus; it was just a means to an end. BE KIND AND PRAY

Overcome evil with good

HALIFAX, Nova Scotia, July 23, 2016 – Jesus is very clear about how we are to treat people who hate us: We are to be kind to them and pray for them.

We are not to seek revenge in any way or to curse them. We are to be kind to them and pray for them.

Praying means to be kind in our mind, not just in our words or actions.

There is no way that you can do either of those things (be kind and pray for people who hate you) without the help of God’s spirit. (more…)

SOCIAL JUSTICE WARRIORS = SATANISTS

eye for an eye

HALIFAX, Nova Scotia, July 20, 2016 – Jesus never got involved in social justice issues. You can bet that soldiers were beating and unfairly arresting people during Jesus’ ministry years, yet we hear nothing in the New Testament about it. Jesus warned his followers (that would be us) that we would be unjustly imprisoned and likely also beaten and killed, but he didn’t say to fight against it. He just advised us not to worry about our defense in court because God would give us the words we would need when it was time to defend ourselves.

In other words, there would be no #BelieverLivesMatter under Jesus’ watch.

Why is that? Why was Jesus so adamantly NOT a “social justice warrior”? (more…)
