DIE-VERSIONS

Everything that is God’s way leads to life.

Everything that is not God’s way leads to death.

The world is one big humungous diversion whose sole purpose is to lead us away from God and towards death.

It does this by enticing us to waste our time engaging in activities that have nothing to do with preaching the Word, nothing to do with aiming for Heaven, nothing to do with passing our tests or learning our lessons. (more…)

SPIRITUAL BUTTERFLIES

I’m traveling again.

Traveling does more than jolt you out of your daily routine; it reveals the real you.

When you travel, you live and move as a stranger among strangers. Your usual frames of reference do not apply: not knowing anyone and not being known by anyone frees you from adhering to expected behaviors and from expecting certain behaviors from others.

Jesus could have lived like this. Any number of people who love God do actually live like this – quiet, respectable lives, going about their daily business and raising families. Nothing wrong with that.

Or is there? (more…)

This Much I Know

kindness

I have spent the past 18 years living as a Christian. Prior to that, I was a loud and proud atheist.

My values have changed, but my personality has not. I am still the same impetuous, occasionally impatient, outspoken, laugh-out-loud, fearless person I always was. I did my own thing as an atheist, and I do my own thing now.

Being a Christian doesn’t prevent you from doing your own thing. It just changes what that “thing” is. (more…)

GO!

starting pistol

As the world around us spins faster and faster and faster, we need more than ever to ground ourselves in this one simple fact:

We have only one chance to get it right.

Just one.

When we die, we don’t get another chance to “come back” and make better choices. We get just one chance, and we’re living that chance now. (more…)
